A little feathered friend living in a tree on the campus of Trident Technical College in South Carolina was aware of the comings and goings of students and faculty.
This may be the reason why, when the baby owl found itself in trouble one day, it knew exactly where to turn for help.
Recently, staff at the college noticed that they were being observed as they went about their business. They discovered a pair of large, intense eyes peering in at them from just outside the building.
The eyes belonged to a baby owl.
According to a spokesperson for Trident Technical College, the staff quickly realized that the young owl was in a difficult situation after it had fallen out of its nest. The owl had seemingly sought assistance as it was unable to return to its nest on its own.
Thankfully, a member of the staff promptly rescued the stranded owl by wrapping it up in a jacket.
The baby owl was then taken to the Center for Birds of Prey where wildlife experts assessed his condition and found him to be healthy. As a result, it was decided that the bird should be returned to the spot where it had fallen.
In no time, the young owl was back where it belonged, and the situation was resolved.
“He was returned to campus to reunite with his family. Volunteers kept an eye on him the first week to ensure everything was OK,” according to the college spokesperson.
The owl, having been returned to his nest, now looks out at the world beyond that he had entered a little too soon.
Despite its small size, the successful rescue and release of the baby owl has had a big impact on the students and faculty at Trident Technical College in South Carolina, who have fallen in love with the little bird.
“The whole campus has fallen in love with the owlet.”
While the fate of a single bird may seem insignificant to some, the heartwarming rescue and successful release of this young owl has captured the affections of both students and faculty at Trident Technical College.
Even the smallest acts of compassion can have a profound impact on those around us to unite a community and inspire us to take care of the natural world around us.
The owl’s story is a reminder that every living being deserves a chance at life and that we can all play a role in protecting and preserving the environment we share.
