10 Ducklings Find New Family After Heartwarming Rescue By Quick-Thinking Officer

Baby ducklings are almost wholly dependent on their mother. They follow her wherever she goes, so if something happens to her, ducklings can face many dangers.

Luckily, a brood of ducklings was saved after their mother disappeared, leaving them stranded in the middle of a busy road.

Animal control officer Diane Desrosiers discovered ten adorable but lost ducklings wandering onto the road in Southgate, Michigan. Unfortunately, their mother was nowhere in sight.

Officer Desrosiers knew the ducklings would be in great danger without some help. So, she loaded the ducklings into a pet carrier while she worked out a plan.

She knew of a wild duck called Stella living in the South Winds Golf Club nearby. Stella had just hatched nine babies of her own. She would be the perfect surrogate for these lost little ones.

Officer Desrosiers drove over and released the ducklings into Stella’s pond. A witness at the golf club, golf pro Chris Grandy, said what happened next was “the most precious kind of thing [he’s] ever witnessed.”

Stella immediately came to the rescue of the baby ducklings and led them back to her nest. She and her biological ducklings accepted the newcomers as their own. The lost ducklings were officially adopted!

Without Officer Desrosiers’ help and Stella’s motherly instincts, who knows what might have happened to those adorable baby birds?
