Dog Saves A Baby Bird & Becomes Her Big Brother

In a heartwarming tale of compassion and friendship, a beloved dog named Hiro has again demonstrated his remarkable goodness. 

One day, Hiro and his owner, Viviana Davila, were enjoying the tranquility of their backyard in Puerto Rico when Hiro’s attentive gaze was fixated on something near the fence line.

Curiosity piqued, Hiro approached the object, eager to investigate further.

To Davila’s surprise, Hiro had discovered a tiny, defenseless creature on the ground.

Sensing the urgency, Hiro began licking the fragile being and then directed his attention towards Davila as if imploring her to take notice.

Recognizing the significance of Hiro’s actions, Davila quickly joined him, discovering a baby bird in desperate need of assistance.

“I noticed Hiro licking something on the grass. Hiro licked this thing and looked at me and insisted again by licking it and looking at me,” Davila remarked. “That gave me the signal that there was something going on, and I approached Hiro.”

Without hesitation, Davila wrapped the delicate bird in a towel, understanding that Hiro had just saved its life. 

“I instantly looked for a towel and picked her up. She was very defenseless and helpless.”

Upon consulting a veterinarian, she learned that the baby bird was a paraplegic Quaker parrot, most likely having fallen from its nest.

The veterinarian expressed doubt about the bird’s survival prospects in the wild and recommended euthanasia. 

“The vet told us that [in] similar cases, he recommends clients to put them to sleep. However, he was surprised to see how Hope was striving to live.”

The bird’s unwavering will to live inspired Davila to name her Hope and welcome her into their family.

Determined to provide the best care possible, Davila diligently followed the vet’s guidance, administering regular feedings and ensuring Hope’s comfort.

Throughout this journey, Hiro remained steadfastly by Hope’s side, demonstrating unwavering loyalty and empathy.

With each passing day, Hope’s strength grew, thanks to Davila’s nurturing and Hiro’s steadfast support.

“It has been a week and a half, and she is doing far better. Hiro has been part of that effort. Since day one, he has not left her side.”

As Hope settled into her new home, Hiro became her constant companion, never leaving her alone.

Their bond grew stronger with each passing moment, exemplifying the remarkable friendship that had blossomed between a bird and a dog. 

“Nothing matters anymore for him because he has a new purpose: taking care of Hope.”

Hope’s resilience served as a source of inspiration, teaching Davila and Hiro invaluable lessons in perseverance, empathy, and friendship.

“Having Hope and taking care of her so far has been a really great experience. She teaches us each day about perseverance, and Hiro about empathy and being a kind living creature and friend.”

Thanks to Hiro’s intervention and Davila’s care, Hope not only survived but also found a loving place to call home.
